HSV Sanctions Dompé and Mikelbrencis
The club management announces heavy fines for the two players following the car accident for what is known so far.
The car accident near the harbour on Monday evening, in which Jean-Luc Dompé was directly involved and William Mikelbrencis was a passenger in another vehicle nearby, has consequences for the two HSV players who had left the scene of the accident before the police arrived.
HSV will impose fines on the two Frenchmen, who will not take part in today's team training. "We have spoken to Jean-Luc and William and told both of them in no uncertain terms that we consider their behaviour to be absolutely irresponsible and that they can expect an appropriate sanction in the form of a hefty fine," said Jonas Boldt. The results of the police investigation will also be of great importance in the final determination of the penalty. The board also emphasises that "We expect a clear learning effect for both players. We are very happy that there was no personal injury and that no one was seriously hurt. Both should learn from their mistakes as soon as possible and must take responsibility for them".
Dompé and Mikelbrencis had been summoned to the office by the board on Tuesday afternoon to explain themselves about the incidents of the previous evening. In this context, they had already admitted their misconduct. "We made a bad mistake because we should have stayed away. We can only formally apologise and now have to answer for the consequences," said Dompé and Mikelbrencis. Dompé added: "I did not live up to my responsibility in this situation. I am very sorry for that. I apologise for this to my team and also to HSV and its fans, who can certainly expect different behaviour from a colleague and player in the professional team."
