HSV extends contract with Maximilian Rohr
The 26-year-old receives a new two-year contract with the Rothosen.
Hamburger SV has set the course for a common future with its next professional: Defensive all-rounder Maximilian Rohr has been given a two-year contract as a professional player and will thus remain with the Rothosen until the summer of 2024. The 26-year-old moved from FC Carl Zeiss Jena to HSV in September 2020 and was earmarked for the regional league team. Rohr was promoted to the professional squad for the current 2021/22 season and always played in the first six competitive matches before a complex muscle injury put him out of action. On the last matchday at Fortuna Düsseldorf (1:1), Rohr celebrated his comeback. "Maxi showed just at the beginning of the season that he can be an important part of our team with his versatility and physicality. We are pleased to have him in our ranks in the future and see his athletic development as far from complete," emphasised HSV sports director Michael Mutzel. Maximilian Rohr is also pleased about the continued cooperation and explains: "I am happy to continue to be a part of HSV. I have felt very much at home here since my arrival and took the next step with my first second league games. It's my big goal to build on that now after the injury break and help the team as best as possible."
Step by Step to the Top
Maximilian Rohr was born on 27 June 1995 in Bad Friedrichshall (Baden-Württemberg). He started playing football at the local TSG Heilbronn and then trained with the youth team of Karlsruhe SC until 2011. Two more youth clubs followed, FC Astoria Walldorf and VfB Eppingen. Rohr also played for the latter in the men's league for the first time. After stints with Oberliga clubs SSV Reutlingen 05 (2016-18) and SGV Freiberg (2018-19), the 1.93-metre tall midfielder, who can also be deployed as a centre-back, landed at then third-division club FC Carl Zeiss Jena for the 2019/20 season. Following the relegation of the traditional East German club, Rohr moved to HSV in September 2020, where he played his way up through the regional league team to the professional ranks and is now under long-term contract there.
