HSV duo ensure their place in the history books
Ransford Königsdörffer opened the scoring after less than a minute in the 5-0 win over SSV Jahn Regensburg, while Jean-Luc Dompe scored twice after coming off the bench. We take a look at where their achievements rank in the club’s history.
Some of the 53,779 fans at the Volksparkstadion hadn’t even taken their seat when Scooter’s ‘Always Hamburg’ started playing for the first time yesterday. After just 45 seconds, Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer headed HSV into the lead against SSV Jahn Regensburg, ensuring his place in the club’s history books. The striker’s goal went straight into the list of top 10 quickest goals by a HSV player in league football. Club legend Harald Spörl has three (!) goals in this list, scoring after just 39, 43 and 47 seconds. The record is held by Franz-Josef "Bubi" Hönig, who bagged after just 14 seconds on 6th February 1971.

The fans who missed HSV’s opening goal (and a piece of history) on Sunday will have at least witnessed more history and entertainment late on. That is providing they didn’t commit one of the biggest sins as a football fan and leave early! Winger Jean-Luc Dompe, who came off the bench in the 62nd minute, also earned a place in the history books. The 29-year-old Frenchman made it 3-0 (76’), set up Selke’s goal for 4-0 (89’) and then got his second and HSV’s fifth in the third minute of injury time. It means he joins an illustrious list of players to have scored at least two goals after coming on as a substitute for the club. Interestingly, Pierre-Michel Lasogga (pictured) managed a hat-trick at the Volksparkstadion on the same day six years ago.
