HSV beat Silkeborg IF 1-0 in preseason friendly
Bakery Jatta scored the only goal of the day against the newly-promoted Danish top flight side. Robert Glatzel and Miro Muheim both celebrated their debut in HSV colours.
HSV recorded a 1-0 win in their third preseason friendly of the summer, beating Silkeborg IF on Monday morning (11am kick-off). Bakery Jatta scored the winning goal just moments after the half-time break (47’). HSV head coach Tim Walter was without several first team players against the Danish side. In addition to Stephan Ambrosius (long-term injury), Daniel Heuer Fernandes, Tom Mickel, Josha Vagnoman, Amadou Onana, Jeremy Dudziak, Sonny Kittel and Mikkel Kaufmann were all unavailable.
TWO GOOD CHANCES EACH IN THE FIRST HALF…
After recovering from coronavirus, new boy Robert Glatzel made his first appearance in a HSV shirt and put his qualities on display several times in the first 45 minutes. Glatzel also took the first dangerous shot on goal after around a quarter of an hour. Moments later, Tim Leibold came close to the opener as the Rothosen captain headed a challenging cross from Wintzheimer just over the bar from close range. The Scandinavians had to wait until the half hour mark for their first sight at goal – HSV keeper Oppermann steered Lind’s header away and was on hand to deny Kaalund from a corner two minutes later. The half ended with the score at 0-0.
... HSV WITH A QUICK SECOND HALF GOAL
HSV came out for the restart with eight changes to the starting eleven (only Oppermann, Reis and Suhonen remained on the pitch) and were awarded a penalty after just 30 seconds. Miro Muheim, also making his HSV debut, played a supberb through ball for Bakery Jatta, who was brought down in the penalty area after winning the footrace. Jatta got up and stuck the penalty in the top left corner to give HSV the lead. The Rothosen pushed for the second goal right away, but lacked conviction in the final third with inaccurate passes and mistimed runs. The defensive Danes, on the other hand, struggled to mount any kind of attack after falling behind. Only 15 minutes before the end did Lind come close to an equaliser, his shot missing the target narrowly. At 12:46pm, referee Konrad Oldhafer blew the final whistle with the score at 1-0.n.
