Hefti joins HSV
Hamburger SV have signed 26-year-old right-back Silvan Hefti from Genoa CFC to a permanent deal.
HSV have completed the signing of right-back Silvan Hefti, adding further reinforcements to their squad for the ongoing season. The Swiss defender joins from Serie A side Genoa CFC and has made over 300 appearances at professional level across stints at St Gallen, Young Boys Bern, Genoa and HSC Montpellier.
Hefti arrives in Hamburg having featured over 200 times in the Swiss Super League, in addition to playing 59 league games in Italy and France and having appeared 25 times in the Europa League and Champions League. Head coach Steffen Baumgart, as well as board member for sport Stefan Kuntz (pictured above right) and HSV’s director of professional football, Claus Costa (l.) are looking forward to having the right-back on board.
“Tactically, Silvan is a very reliable defender,” said Costa. “We are looking for him to be a solid presence in our backline with his hard-tackling nature, in addition to bringing energy and dynamism to the right-back position.” Costa also spoke about the defender’s mentality, adding that Hefti had also been in touch with fellow Swissman Miro Muheim about the move. “Silvan has been able to amass a lot of experience playing at the highest level in various countries and will now be able to bring this to the table at HSV. He wants and needs to take up responsibility, and as a result we’re extremely pleased to have been able to make this transfer a reality.”
Hefti made the decision to move to Hamburg saying, “I chose HSV because this is a huge club and I really wanted to be part of it and help to get them back to the Bundesliga. In order to do that, I will work hard every day, as well as using my experience and my winning mentality to help us be successful as a team and as a club, as we look to achieve our aims.”
