HSV celebrates a commanding home victory against Hannover. Kittel (34.), Benes (41. & 61.), Glatzel (65.), Königsdörffer (76.) and Reis (87.) scored for the Rothosen.
HSV celebrates its ninth home win of the season. The Red Shorts won 6:1 (2:0) against Hannover 96 on Saturday (8 April) in front of 57,000 spectators in the sold-out Volksparkstadion. Sonny Kittel (34th) and Laszlo Benes (41st) scored before half-time to lead 2-0 at the break. After the second half, the visitors reduced the lead with a Sunday shot by Derrick Köhn (52.), but the Rothosen responded to the brief period of pressure with a converted penalty by Benes (61., Kranjc to Heyer), the 17th goal of the season by Robert Glostel (17., Kranjc to Heyer), and the first goal of the season by Robert Glostel. The team was able to score the last goal of the season by Robert Glatzel (65th), a goal by substitute Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer (76th) and the final goal by Ludivit Reis (87th), and in the end they deserved to win 6:1.
Two beautiful goals bring clear lead ...
Compared to the 2-2 draw in Düsseldorf last Friday (31 March), HSV head coach Tim Walter made two changes to the starting eleven: The suspended Javi Montero (yellow-red) and Miro Muheim (5th yellow card) were replaced by captain Sebastian Schonlau (back after yellow card suspension) and Jonas David.
The newly formed four-man defence was hardly challenged in the first quarter of an hour, however, as HSV had a lot of possession at the start of the game and pushed the visitors from Niedersachsen deep into their own half. Despite their superiority, it was the Hanoverians who created the first chances around the 20-minute mark. However, Daniel Heuer Fernandes, who was once again in good form, prevented anything worse from happening, so that it remained a goalless draw for the time being. At least until the 34th minute, when Sonny Kittel made the Volksparkstadion shake. The noble technician finished off a strong pressing sequence after a strong assist from Ludovit Reis and thus scored his longed-for first goal in this season. The opening goal visibly boosted the Rothosen- which was confirmed in the 41st minute by a dream finish from Laszlo Benes. The Slovakian was perfectly set up by Robert Glatzel, dribbled artistically past his opponent and finished with a sensitive lob over 96 keeper Rob-Robert Zieler. With the deserved 2:0 lead, the team went into the dressing rooms.
... which continues to grow
Returned from these, the Hanoverians showed directly that they did not give up the game under any circumstances. The best proof was the connecting goal in the 52nd minute, scored by ex-HSVer Derrick Köhn. The left-back added his name to the list of dream goals and welded the ball into the far corner from an acute angle. The visitors' joy lasted only a few minutes, however, because after Luka Krajnc had brought down Moritz Heyer in the penalty area, video referee Michael Bacher had his say and corrected referee Florian Badstübner's on-field decision. Laszlo Benes converted the penalty kick and scored his brace (61st). The renewed two-goal lead gave a hint of an early decision - which became a fact four minutes later. Robert Glatzel headed a wonderful cross from Noah Katterbach over the line from close range to make it 4:1 before the final phase had even begun. This was further extended in the 76th minute when Ransford Königsdörffer, who had come on as a substitute shortly before, crowned what was already a superb team performance with his tap-in goal. Shortly before the end of the game, the 57,000 spectators in the sold-out Volksparkstadion even got to see another goal, as Ludovit Reis rounded off an almost perfect afternoon for the Rothosen with his 8th goal of the season. The clear home victory is tantamount to a temporary jump to second place in the table and put the HSV fans, who were once again first class, in a good mood.
