3:1 - HSV celebrate home win against Regensburg
HSV won their home match against SSV Jahn Regensburg 3:1 after goals from Vuskovic, Königsdörffer and Glatzel, once again turning the game around.
Hamburger SV won their matchday 15 home match against SSV Jahn Regensburg 3:1 (1:1) on Sunday (6 November). In front of 51,314 spectators at the Volksparkstadion, the visitors had taken an early lead through Ciliskaner (8th), but Hamburg were able to strike back quickly through Vuskovic's dream goal and equalised (12th). In the following, the Rothosen were superior to the rest of the field, but had to be careful with the fast counterattacks of Regensburg. At the same time, they dominated the game more and more, increased the pressure, put away a missed Glatzel penalty and finally secured a deserved 3:1 home victory with two late goals by Königsdörffer and Glatzel.
Superior Rothosen ...
HSV coach Walter had changed the system a bit and had his team play with a three-man backline plus a midfield diamond behind the three-man attack Königsdörffer/Glatzel/Dompé. And the latter had the first chance in the fourth minute after a beautiful individual action by Reis, whose contract extension had been announced directly before the game, but was blocked just before the line. In general, HSV started very lively against Regensburg, who were standing deep, but this momentum was dampened in the eighth minute.
Caliskaner ran down a quick counter-attack by the visitors and executed it ice-cold to make it 0:1. But the Reds didn't let that take away their momentum, they continued towards the SSV box - with success: Only four minutes later, Vuskovic scored with a fantastic shot from 25 metres to make it 1:1. And it went on just as wildly. Heuer Fernandes had to save twice from Albers and Caliskaner in the greatest of emergencies, while on the other side Vuskovic and Königsdörffer again missed the next goal - and at this point less than half an hour had been played. All in all, however, HSV was the team that set the tone, put more and more pressure on the visitors, who continued to lurk on the counterattack, and as a result Kittel scored twice, both of which went just wide of the left-hand post. In addition, there were plenty of goalmouth scenes, but they always lacked a few centimetres of luck, so that it went into half-time with the score at 1-1.
... and deserved home victory
After the break, Hamburg remained the dominant team, even though they always had to be on their guard against the dangerous counterattacks of Regensburg, who lurked for these moments of change. However, Meffert & Co. were able to nip most of these in the bud and create plenty of goal danger on the other side. However, they were mostly unlucky in this respect. This was most conspicuous in the 49th minute, when SSV keeper Kirschbaum fished a penalty kick by Glatzel, caused by Kittel, out of the bottom corner.
And also against Königsdörfer, Muheim and Benes, who also failed at the post in the 66th minute, the goalkeeper saved for his front men and kept the 1-1. This was the score for the hot final phase, in which Königsdörffer was able to reward himself, his team and all the HSV fans. This time it was the Reds who switched quickly after winning the ball and scored the 2-1 in the 79th minute. Now the Volksparkstadion, once again filled with more than 50,000 fans, could not hold back any longer. When Captain Schonlau saved on the line for his already beaten keeper Heuer Fernandes and Glatzel even scored the 3:1 in the 90th minute to finally put the lid on, the jubilation knew no bounds. Once again a game turned around, once again incredible support from the fans - a wonderful afternoon of football!
