Deserved break lead ...
HSV coach Tim Walter changed his starting eleven on two positions compared to the draw with league leaders Darmstadt 98: Katterbach played at right back for Heyer, who was suspended with a yellow card, and Jatta replaced Königsdörffer on the attacking right wing. And the Rothosen broke through well on the flanks a few times in the opening phase, which led to early goals and a first really good chance for Reis after a quarter of an hour, whose header from Dome's cross even touched the crossbar.
Four minutes later, Dompe himself was even more accurate, when he beautifully placed a free-kick from 20 metres into the left corner of the goal for a 1-0 lead. A great goal that made the sold-out Volkspark shake and visibly put the Nurembergers to the sword. However, Hamburg were unable to capitalise on this until the break, as Glatzel was unable to finish as desired against two or even three Nuremberg players and FCN keeper Vindahl prevented HSV's second goal with an incredible reflex shortly before the half-time whistle, although Heuer Fernandes also had to intervene once in a serious manner against Nuremberg's top scorer Duah.
... and fifth home win in a row
After the change of ends, it was obvious that the guests came out of the dressing room with a lot of will - but this was quickly put to the test. Jatta took an attack on the right wing into the middle, where Dompe passed to Reis, whose shot in the 52nd minute made it 2-0 for HSV. The Hamburg team was now finally on the winning track, which they would not leave until the final whistle. Although the club struggled, Walter's team did not let go of the game. A double chance by the club through left-footed Nürnberger was countered by two further goals, the first by Glatzel being retrospectively taken away due to an alleged previous foul. Instead, substitute Königsdörffer put the cherry on the cake in injury time, curling the ball into the right-hand corner for a well-deserved 3:0 victory almost at the final whistle. It was HSV's fifth home win in a row, which the fans in the sold-out Volksparkstadion duly celebrated.
