2:0 - HSV deservedly win in Nürnberg
HSV deservedly won their away match at 1. FC Nuremberg 2:0 on Saturday with goals from Vuskovic and Glatzel.
Hamburger SV won the top match of matchday 6 with 2:0 (1:0) at 1. FC Nürnberg on Saturday (27 August). In front of 35,713 spectators at the Max Morlock Stadium, centre-back Vuskovic scored the 1:0 (37th) following a corner kick, Glatzel made it 2:0 in injury time and thus the final decision. It was the third away game for HSV this season - and at the same time the third that the Walter team won, again without conceding a goal. It was a well-deserved win for the Reds, who were in control of the game for almost the entire duration and allowed virtually nothing defensively.
The lead through Vuskovic ...
HSV coach Tim Walter replaced Muheim with Leibold on the left side of the back four and also let his new wingers off the leash: The recovered Jatta on the right and Dompé, who recently joined HSV, on the left were to provide pace and a goal threat on the flanks. And that worked well. Jatta's crosses lacked precision at the start and Dompé was unlucky when FCN keeper Mathenia just managed to scramble his shot out of the corner after just under half an hour, but HSV created good action on the flanks as well as through the centre. Kittel and Reis were very active there and, as midfield engines, ensured that the Rothosen held the reins of action in their hands. In the first half, they had more possession and won more tackles than the club - and should have been awarded a penalty in the 22nd minute when Glatzel was felled by Hübner in the penalty area, but referee Zwayer decided on a free kick for FCN, to the surprise of all involved. A quarter of an hour later, however, there was no more discussion when Vuskovic, after a rehearsed corner variant and a final header by Heyer, was right on the penalty spot and slammed the ball into the net with a powerful volley for 1:0 (37.). It was a deserved lead for Hamburg at the break, because even though the home side had a double chance through Möller Daehli and Nürnberger (31st, 32nd), Walter's team was the stronger and more effective team.
... and victory thanks to strong defence
After the second half, the figures for possession and tackles shifted slightly in favour of the club, but this did not put HSV in any danger. The Rothosen concentrated on standing well defensively and keeping the opponent far away from their own goal. They did this very well, because apart from a header by Daferner in the 70th minute, which, however, also missed the far post by a whole corner, the Reds did not allow any serious goals with their running-intensive play against the ball and their consistency and compactness in front of their own goal - and, for their part, provided their own offensive pinpricks. Glatzel and Kittel came closest to a 2:0, which, however, did not happen for the time being. Despite their control of the game, the Red Shorts were in for an exciting final phase, but HSV were not only able to defend the final offensive of the Nuremberg team in a confident and stable manner, but also to strike the decisive blow and put the lid on it. Kittel had initiated the icing on the cake with a strong individual action on the left wing, which Glatzel and Reis completed together, with the goal ultimately being attributed to Glatzel. The Hamburgers didn't care, what counted was the deserved away win - the third in the third game, all without conceding a goal. A truly strong performance, which the supporters celebrated with their team for minutes after the final whistle.
