HSV extend Hadzikadunic loan
Centre-back Dennis Hadzikadunic will remain with HSV for the upcoming campaign after his loan from FK Rostov was extended for another year.
Hamburger SV have extended defender Dennis Hadzikadunic’s loan deal for the 2024/25 season. The option was available due to FIFA’s ruling for foreign players at Russian and Ukrainian clubs to suspend their contracts due to the war. The 25-year-old, who first arrived at HSV in July 2023, is still until contract at FK Rostov until 2026. Hadzikadunic made 27 competitive appearances for the Rothosen last season, featuring in 10 of a possible 12 games in the final part of the campaign under Steffen Baumgart. With over 160 competitive matches of experience at first-team level in Germany, Russia, Sweden and Spain and 28 senior caps for Bosnia-Herzegovina, he has become one of the team’s leading men at the back.
“Dennis really found his feet as the season went on, particularly at the end of the campaign under Steffen Baumgart, and consistently delivered solid performances,” said director of first-team football Claus Costa. “He now wants to carry on in the same vein in the new season and take on even more responsibility, so we’re delighted that he will continue to represent the club for another year.”
Hadzikadunic, who will travel with the team to the training camp in Schneverdingen on Monday, is also happy to be staying: “I really wanted to play for HSV for another season, as I really feel at home here. We also have good quality in the squad, excellent coaches and brilliant backroom staff too. We’re determined to achieve success as a group and so I’m thrilled to remain a part of HSV.”
