2:1 - HSV victory against Bielefeld
HSV wins matchday 21 against Arminia Bielefeld thanks to goals from Reis and Jatta and a united and combative team performance.
Hamburger SV won their home match against Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday (19 February) with 2:1 (1:0). In front of 56,905 spectators in the virtually sold-out Volksparkstadion, both teams played a close and hard-fought game in which Reis had given HSV a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute. After Oczipka had equalised in the meantime (51st), Jatta gave Hamburg the lead again with his 2:1 in the 57th minute. The lead was in danger in the final phase against Arminen, who never gave up, but in the end HSV managed to hold on to the narrow lead, earned the three points and won their fourth home match in a row.
Reis scores for the lead ...
Tim Walter changed his team on two positions, for Montero and Königsdörffer David and Benes were in the starting eleven. And they started well, already after one minute the Rothosen had the first good opportunity, after Jatta and Heyer had played through on the right side of the attack and only the crowning finish was missing. But there was also a lot of action on the other side when Jäkel scored a tap-in from a corner kick in the 13th minute, but the goal was subsequently overturned by the VAR.
There was a lot of action in the Volksparkstadion, where Hamburg were the more dominant team and took the lead after just under half an hour. Reis had taken a shot from a central position in the penalty area after Muheim's beautiful preparatory work and Ramos deflected it decisively. Dompe and Benes came close to extending the 1-0 lead against a defensively stable Bielefeld five-man backline shortly before half-time, but both were inches short of the second goal of the day.
... and Jatta for the win
After the change of ends, the game became more open. With Consbruch replacing Vasiliadis, Bielefeld brought more offence and pace into the game and, after an attack that HSV defended too negligently, Oczipka made it 1-1 in the 51st minute. But Hamburg only shook themselves once, went straight back into forward gear and pressed for the lead again. And how! First Benes hit the crossbar, then David failed to beat keeper Fraisl, but Bielefeld could do nothing against Jatta's volley after Dompe's cross.
And so HSV led 2-1 after just under an hour, which duly heralded the wild final phase of the game. Serra came into play for the Bielefeld team and immediately demonstrated his core competence: scoring goals. After a slip by HSV keeper Heuer Fernandes and a counterattack via Lasme, he twice caused heart palpitations among the Hamburg supporters, who were finally allowed to cheer. HSV kept their goal clean thanks to a great fighting performance and could even have been awarded a penalty kick in injury time and thus increased the result, but even so, there were no limits to the jubilation over the hard-fought but deserved home victory in the virtually sold-out Volksparkstadion.
