Xavier Amaechi joins Bolton Wanderers on loan
The 20-year-old Englishman is joining Bolton Wanderers on loan for six months. “Game time is the most important thing," said Michael Mutzel.
HSV have agreed on a further loan deal for Xavier Amaechi. The 20-year-old Englishman, who has just returned to Hamburg from his loan spell at Karlsruher SC, will now join Bolton Wanderers on a six-month deal. "For Xavier, the most important thing is still to get as much match practice as possible. In Bolton Wanderers, we have found a club where this is very likely to happen," said sporting director Michael Mutzel.
Up until 2011/12, Bolton Wanderers played in the Premier League. Following a number of relegations and a subsequent administration, the club played last season in League Two, the English fourth tier. The ‘Trotters’ enjoyed a successful campaign, finishing third and returning to League One. Now, Amaechi and his new teammates will be fighting to continue the upwards trend. Due to the cup competitions in England and the large number of teams in the league, Amaechi will have many opportunities to play and keep building up his confidence.
Amaechi joined HSV in 2019 from the Arsenal U23s. Over the last two seasons, the England youth international has however only made a total of five competitive appearances for the HSV first team (two in the DFB-Pokal and three in the 2. Bundesliga). In January, the fullback was loaned out to KSC, where he picked up a further seven league appearances. Now he returns to his home country, where he will be looking to take the next steps in his development.
