"When HSV comes, it's completely different ..."
In the press conference before the match against Arminia Bielefeld, Tim Walter spoke about the challenges at the Alm, the quality of the opponent and his own ability.
When Tim Walter took his seat on the podium in the press conference room of the Volksparkstadion on Thursday (11 August), the HSV coach had once again swapped his fine shirt of the previous day for the usual diamond hoddie. Nevertheless, the beginning of the event before the away game against Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday (kick-off: 1 p.m., live on HSVnetradio) was still dominated by Uwe Seeler's memorial service. "It was a dignified farewell with beautiful speeches, sometimes situations that got under the skin, and a few laughs, as with the words of Dittsche. Uwe always had a smile on his face. There was sunshine throughout. Uwe would have liked it very much. There was a lot of sympathy for everyone, including my team," reported the head coach of the Red Shorts.
Afterwards, as usual, the focus was on the upcoming match. The Hamburg team will face an extremely tough opponent in the Bundesliga relegation play-off, who have not yet managed a win in the first three match days of the 2nd Division. Walter explained why with a figurative comparison.
Among other things, he spoke in detail about ...
... the game on the Alm: "It's not a safari tour to get to the Alm. It's about going there with full force and energy, in order to ultimately succeed there. Anyone who has played there knows how difficult it is. It's not going to be a walk in the park, but we have enough confidence and energy to get there.
... the opponent's start to the season so far: We will definitely not underestimate them. Maybe Arminia did that with their opponents in the first few games, but when HSV comes, it's completely different. It's also normal that not everything works out after three games with a new coach. As a relegated team, you're always a bit of a favourite. Maybe they haven't proved that yet, but the individual quality is there.
... the duel of the strikers: Arminia has great potential in the forwards. I still know Janni Serra from Kiel. But nevertheless, we have the best striker in our ranks. I'm glad that Bobby plays for us and that he shows his quality week after week. But above all, we have to play to zero at the back again. The only way to do that is to be compact. We have this compactness at the moment. Only then can Bobby shine again. But Arminia also has potential up front.
