"We know our Strengths"
In the press conference before the away match at FC Erzgebirge Aue, HSV head coach Tim Walter spoke about the upcoming duel, the season so far and the role of midfielder Sonny Kittel, among other things.
As part of the 9th matchday of the second division, Hamburger SV will host FC Erzgebirge Aue on Friday evening at 6.30 pm. The Red Shorts travel to the Erzgebirge with a good portion of self-confidence in their hold. HSV have remained unbeaten for five games and has only ever suffered one defeat in the current 2. Bundesliga season. The upcoming opponents from Saxony, on the other hand, are the only 2. Bundesliga team still waiting for a win. Despite these supposedly clear signs, HSV head coach Tim Walter sees his team as warned and wants to counter it with their own strength. "We know our strengths and want to perform with self-confidence. At the same time, we will treat our opponents with respect. The table is never meaningful and every team that operates in the 2. Bundesliga has certain qualities," explained the football coach at a press conference on Wednesday lunchtime.
In Detail Tim Walter spoke about…
... the upcoming match and the opponent from Aue: "We are looking forward to the match, we want to develop a bit further again. We are on the right track, but we also know that we have to improve a few things. At the same time, we know our strengths and want to perform with self-confidence. Nevertheless, we will treat our opponents with respect. The table is never meaningful. Every team that plays in the 2nd division has certain qualities. We know the strengths of the opponent, who operates a lot with long balls and stands extremely deep and defends and from these situations tries to get into switching actions - that makes Aue dangerous. That's why we will definitely not underestimate the opponent.
„I am satisfied with our development in terms of readiness, courage and the will to win“ Tim Walter
... the course of the season so far: I am basically satisfied with our development in terms of readiness, courage and the will to win. At the same time, it is clear that we want to win more matches. In this respect, there is still a small discrepancy between our performance and the results. For us, it is important that we continue on our path with an irrepressible will.
... Sonny Kittel: Sonny currently has a very clear defensive structure, which he implements very well. That's very important for him, but also for our game, so that he ends up with the ball in exactly the situations that make him special. He succeeds in that. He prepares a lot of things, runs free very well and has an incredibly good sense of space. We need him and he can take on even more responsibility. In this respect, he has perhaps been overshadowed by other players in recent years. It's good for him to thaw out there. It is great fun to work with him, especially because he is so meticulous in training. He is an absolute professional.
