HSV romp to victory in first game of pre-season
New signings Daniel Elfadli and Adam Karabec made their HSV debuts as the Rothosen cruised to a 12-0 victory over Regionalliga side TuS Neetze on Saturday.
HSV’s first friendly ahead of the 2024/25 season was a successful one. At a sold-out Jahnstadion, the Rothosen put on an exhibition in goalscoring, reaching double figures against hosts TuS Neetze. A brace each for Ludovit Reis and Andras Nemeth – including a penalty from the former – put HSV four goals to the good by half-time. After the break, there were no signs of slowing down, with Lukas Poreba, Bilal Yalcinkaya and Otto Stange also scoring two each. Immanuel Pherai and Ransford Königsdörffer also got in on the act for a final score in double figures.
New formation and debuts for Karabec and Elfadli
The result ensures that Steffen Baumgart’s side end their first week of pre-season in positive fashion, having been training in Schneverdingen since Monday. After eight gruelling sessions over the first five days, Saturday’s clash with Neetze was more a means of building up match fitness than finding a potential starting lineup for the new season. Despite that, though, Baumgart deployed HSV new boy Adam Karabec from the start.
As well as the new signing, the 2,500 fans in Neetze also got to see a new formation in action. Baumgart went with a 3-4-1-2 system, selecting Karabec in the role behind the two strikers, Nemeth and academy player Sillah. The back-three consisted of Heyer, Ramos and David. Ludovit Reis captained the side and he opened the scoring after 17 minutes with a shot from distance. The Dutchman got his second from the spot (36’, foul on Sillah), while Nemeth’s brace ensured a 4-0 lead at half time for HSV.
Yalcinkaya and Stange both score twice
Baumgart changed his whole team for the second half aside from goalkeeper Tom Mickel. This meant that new signing Daniel Elfadli appeared for the first time in HSV colours. Lukasz Poreba, who has joined permanently from RC Lens, and Dennis Hadzikadunic, who has signed for another year on loan from FK Rostov, also featured after the break. Youngsters Bilal Yalcinkaya and Otto Stange were also given minutes. The academy pair each scored twice, with Yalcinkaya netting in the 65th and 75th minute, and Stange scoring in the 76th minute and the first minute of injury time. The other goalscorers in the second half were Pherai (47’), Poreba (53’/88’) and Königsdörffer (73’), resulting in a 12-0 win for the Rothosen. It was a good run out and a nice end to the first week of pre-season. The players will have Sunday off and then be back at the Volkspark for training next week.
