Muscle tear for Toni Leistner

A bitter pill to swallow for Toni Leistner. After consistent displays at the heart of the HSV defence alongside Stephan Ambrosius, the 30-year-old will have to watch from the sidelines for the next few weeks, after suffering a muscle bundle tear in his upper left thigh on Saturday (30th January). The cause of the injury was a sprint against Sven Michel in the 16th minute during the Rothosen’s 3-1 win over SC Paderborn at the Volksparkstadion, the centre-back having to be replaced by Amadou Onana soon after. Now HSV will have to do without their rock at the back for the next few weeks, who has made 15 competitive appearances so far this season. The whole club wishes Toni a quick recovery!
