Berkay Özcan joins Istanbul Başakşehir on permanent basis
The 22-year-old midfielder makes his loan move to the Turkish capital permanent after a season in the Süper Lig.
Berkay Özcan has left Hamburger SV and moved back to his native Turkey and top-flight club Istanbul Başakşehir FK on a permanent basis after a successful loan spell. On the last day of the summer transfer window, the attacking midfielder joined the club from the Turkish capital, making 23 appearances as Başakşehir lead the Süper Lig at the time of writing. The 22-year-old moved to Hamburg from VfB Stuttgart in January 2019, making 17 appearances in the 2018/19 Rückrunde, securing two goals and three assists along the way. Born in Karlsruhe as the son of two Turkish parents, the national team player now moves back to his second home after a short chapter at HSV.
