Ignace Van Der Brempt joins HSV on loan
The 21-year-old right-back has joined from RB Salzburg for the 2023/24 season.
Ignace Van Der Brempt has joined HSV on loan from RB Salzburg for the 2023/24 season. The 21-year-old Belgian completed his medical in Hamburg earlier today, before signing a contract until 30th June 2024. He will wear the 22 shirt. Whilst Van Der Brempt is primarily used as a right-back, he can also be utilised on the left. The Belgium U21 international has made total of 24 appearances for Salzburg since joining the club in 2022.
Before joining the Austrian side, the 1.87 metre defender played his football in his native Belgium for Club Brugge. He joined the club as a 15-year-old in the summer of 2017 and made his professional debut in 2019. He made a total of 35 appearances for the club before joining RB Salzburg in January 2022. Despite his young age, he has over 60 competitive appearances to his name, including 6 in the UEFA Champions League and 3 in the UEFA Europa League. He was also included in the Belgium squad for the UEFA Under-21 Championship.
“Ignace’s profile fits us down to the ground. He has played in some top teams in recent years and is used to being under pressure to perform. He also has the physical, technical and tactical attributes for the 2. Bundesliga and he has already gained experience on the European stage despite his young age. He chose the loan move swiftly after the talks, which represents a win-win for both sides,” explained Claus Costa, HSV’s director of professional football.
Ignace is also delighted with his loan move to Hamburg: “I was enthusiastic about taking on the challenge at HSV right from the start and I was totally convinced after the talks with those in charge. It’s good that I can get going straight away. Now I want to help the team achieve its goals. I have already heard that the HSV fans get behind their team both home and away. That just gives me even more motivation and excitement.”
