HSV run out 5-1 winners in friendly against SV Drochtersen/Assel
Königsdörffer, Hadzikadunic, Dompe, Heyer and Karabec were the goalscorers for the Rothosen against the Regionalliga side.
Hamburger SV won their second friendly match ahead of the 2024/25 season. The Rothosen defeated Regionalliga side SV Drochtersen/Assel 5-1 on the evening of Friday, 12th July. In front of 4,000 spectators at a sold-out Kehdinger Stadion in Drochtersen, Ransford Königsdörffer (21’) and Dennis Hadzikadunic (35’) both scored headers, before Willi Reincke cut the deficit to make it 2-1 to HSV at the break. After half time, Jean-Luc Dompe (48’) put more daylight between the sides, and the Rothosen remained dominant even after substituting every single one of their outfield players in the 61st minute. Moritz Heyer (68’) and Adam Karabec (86’) also netted to round out the 5-1 victory.
A double header
After the 12-0 win over TuS Neetze last Saturday was followed by an intensive week of training, head coach Steffen Baumgart again picked a 3-4-1-2 formation. Four strikers were absent with injury in new signing Davie Selke, Robert Glatzel, Andras Nemeth and Otto Stange, so Levin Öztunali and Ransford Königsdörffer operated as the front two. After an even first 15 minutes, this duo combined to create the first big chance of the game. Öztunali played a perfect through ball into his strike partner, who was denied by a last-ditch block. A few minutes later though, Königsdörffer made no mistake in nodding home a cross from Dompe to give his side the lead (21’). HSV continued to play with purpose, and Jean-Luc Dompe and Miro Muheim were particularly dangerous on the left side. The latter then set up Dennis Hadzikadunic for the second goal, as the defender headed in following a short corner (35’). The Rothosen were at this point completely in control, but SV Drochtersen/Assel hit back from a set piece. Willi Reincke turned home from close range following a corner to make it 2-1 at half time (40’).
Ten changes in one
Straight after the restart, the lively Dompe restored the two-goal advantage with a superb curling effort after playing a one-two with Bilal Yalcinkaya (48’). A few minutes later, the Frenchman once again tried to place one in the top right corner from the left of the penalty area, but this time was denied by an excellent save from Patrick Siefkes. On the hour mark, HSV boss Baumgart decided to make ten changes, leaving only goalkeeper Matheo Raab to complete the full 90 minutes. This new outfield retained the 3-4-1-2 formation, and new signing Adam Karabec sat behind youngsters Fabio Balde and Omar Sillah up front. The Sparta Prague loanee was involved in HSV’s fourth goal. His corner was flicked on by Gui Ramos, and Moritz Heyer was there to finish at the far post (68’). The Czechia U21 international remained lively and, after putting a chance narrowly wide (76’), netted on the second time of asking to get himself on the scoresheet (86’). This completed a successful run out for the Rothosen, who next visit VfB Lübeck in a friendly today (Saturday) at 17:00 CEST.
