3:3 - HSV comeback from 0:3 in Heidenheim
HSV were already 3-0 down at half-time at 1. FC Heidenheim, but did not give up and were rewarded with a 3-3 draw at the third-placed team in the table.
Hamburger SV drew with third-placed 1. FC Heidenheim on Saturday (11 February). In front of 15,000 spectators at the sold-out Voith Arena, the Red Shorts were already trailing 0:3 at half-time, only to start the big chase in the second half and finally turn this 0:3 into a 3:3. Andras Nemeth (72nd), Robert Glatzel (79th) and Bakery Jatta (88th) scored the goals and crowned a late but impressive performance improvement of HSV, who fought back in the last 20 minutes and ensured the culmination of the comeback and a point won in Heidenheim.
HSV trailing 0:3 ...
HSV coach Tim Walter had to do without central defender David, who was replaced for the first time by winter newcomer Montero, who actually started the game quite well. A lot of possession, a few passable ball sequences and the first chance of the game in the 8th minute when Glatzel's shot failed to hit the right-hand post - from Hamburg's point of view, one could have imagined a worse start. But with every minute that the game lasted longer, the balance of power suddenly shifted more and more.
Heidenheim literally fought their way into the game, won more and more direct duels and produced better and better scoring chances. Mostly the means of choice: long balls, which were extended into the centre of the attack in the middle of Hamburg's half or passed to the outer lanes. Thus, more and more balls flew around the Hamburg defence, which in the middle of the first half created major chances for Heidenheim almost every minute - and for the lead. Beste and Schöppner scored twice after half an hour to make it 1:0 and 2:0, and it went on like that: twice Heuer Fernandes saved on the line, Beste hit the crossbar and before the break Kleindienst made it 3:0 with a precise finish according to the Heidenheim flying ball - header extension - finish principle. A pitch black half time of HSV thus came to an unpleasant end.
The HSV fans in the Voith Arena in Heidenheim never gave up and pushed their team forward even at 0:3 - with success. Simply strong! The numerous HSV fans in the Voith Arena in Heidenheim never gave up and pushed their team forward loudly even when the score was 0:3 - with success. Simply strong!
... and the 3:3 sensation
In the second half, Walter made a change, brought in Benes and Kittel and changed the system to a 3-4-3 to make the impossible possible. However, the home side remained the dominant team for the time being, underlining their reputation as the best home team in the league, and in the first few minutes they were closer to scoring the fourth goal than the Rothosen were to the equaliser. But: HSV did not give up, did not let themselves be discouraged by the deficit nor by the further FCH chances and, with the loud fans behind them, started to run forward.
As did Walter, who brought on another attacking force in the shape of Nemeth after just over an hour of play, thus sending out a further signal. This had an effect and HSV fought their way back. First, Nemeth headed home a Benes cross to make it 1:3 (72nd), before Glatzel scored the 2:3 in the 79th minute with a remarkable shot and finally made the game exciting again. Because there was still some time left and HSV was now fully pushing for the small sensation and the 3:3 after a 0:3 half-time score. And how else could this crazy game have ended but with a dream goal - thought Jatta, who in the 88th minute shot the ball into the corner for 3:3 and thus provided the final point in this crazy top match.
