“We have to settle for a point in the end”
Sunday’s match with Karlsruhe ended in a 2-2 after the hosts grabbed a last-gasp equaliser. Here’s all the reaction from the game:
Robert Glatzel: It’s obviously very bitter that we conceded with the last kick of the game and couldn’t take all three points, especially as we should have made better use of our opportunities on the counter. We’d have finished the game off earlier if we’d had done that and we allowed our opponents to stay in the game. Having said that, Karlsruhe were clearly the better side in the first half and we weren’t strong enough in the duels. All in all, a point isn’t too bad.
Laszlo Benes: After we came out for the second half we did superbly well to turn the game around. You simply can’t afford to only pick up a point after that. It feels a bit like a defeat because of the chances we missed to make it 3-1. We are, however, aware that it was only the second game of the season and we still have lots of potential. I’m happy with the goal I scored from the free-kick because I’ve been practicing them and it’s always nice when they come off in a match. I wanted to hit the target for our second. It’s my job to be involved in scoring goals and when we have strikers such as Glatzel who like to get on the end of these opportunities, it works really well.
"It was a lively game. A draw is okay in the end." Tim Walter
Tim Walter: It was a lively game of football. We didn’t start well and we conceded the first goal as a consequence. We picked ourselves up at half time and managed to get back on level terms courtesy of a superb free-kick. The second goal was a tad fortunate but we weren’t clinical enough on the counter after that. We needed to put the game to bed and we didn’t quite manage to. We have to settle for a point in the end.
Christian Eichner: Overall, we saw a very good 2. Bundesliga match. We had more of the game in the first half and we could have found a second goal if we were a bit more clinical and consistent. After the break it was the little things that made a difference. We conceded a great free-kick and then one of the more scrappy goals of the weekend. I was impressed by our response after we went behind. We pushed our opponents back and we got the equaliser. All in all, it was a good performance from my team.
