HSV to start 2. Bundesliga season away at Schalke
The fixture list has been published for the 2. Bundesliga. HSV will kick off the new campaign with an away game at FC Schalke 04. The Hamburg derby will take place on matchday 3, while the Nordderby with Werder Bremen is scheduled for matchday 7.
The DFL announced the schedule for the 2021/22 2. Bundesliga on Friday (25th June). HSV will begin the season with an away game at FC Schalke 04 on Friday, 23rd July at 20:30 CEST. On the final matchday, HSV will travel up north to face promoted side FC Hansa Rostock (15/5/22). Tim Walter’s first home game is against another promoted side, Dynamo Dresden. That fixture will be played on matchday 2 between 30th July and 1st August.
The third matchday, which comes after a week’s break for the first round of the DFB-Pokal (6th-9th August 2021), will see the first Hamburg derby against FC St. Pauli at the Millerntor. The reverse fixture will be played on matchday 20 at the Volksparkstadion (21st-23rd January 2022). The first ever Nordderby with Werder Bremen in the 2. Bundesliga is also early on in the season (away on matchday 7 between 17th and 19th September 2021). The home game will take place on matchday 24 (between 25th and 27th February 2022).
